Ollie Christie (Year 1 PhD) joined in October 2024.
Ollie grew up in Stockton-on-Tees, in the North-East of England, before studying an MChem at Brasenose College, University of Oxford. His Master's research was conducted in the Tait Group and focused on investigating the electron-nuclear hyperfine couplings of separated charges in organic photovoltaic blends by combining ENDOR experiments with DFT calculations.
Ollie's PhD research now focuses on the magneto-optical and magnetic properties of novel delayed-fluorescence OLED materials. By combining his experience with EPR with transient optical techniques, he aims to utilise spin polarisation to devise new optical read-out methods.
Outside of the lab, Ollie spends time training with the Swansea University Rowing Club where he coxes the senior and novice women's teams. When he's not in a boat, he also enjoys running and regularly trains with the Swansea Striders.
