Michael Walker (Year 3 PhD) joined in October 2022, having completed a BSc in Chemistry at Manchester Metropolitan University and Masters at University of Manchester where he investigated the formation of paramagnetic species in photoexcited spin traps.
In his PhD, Michael is exploring spin-photon mechanisms in organic molecular materials - in particular how chiroptical properties such as circularly polarised emission derive from both chirality and spin-orbital processes within the emitter.
Outside of the lab, Michael enjoys walking, camping and sightseeing.
