Emrys is a Royal Society University Research Fellow and Proleptic Senior Lecturer at Swansea University. His work at the boundary of chemistry and physics explores the interplay between light and electron spin in molecules. Scientific achievements include developing concepts for higher efficiency organic light-emitting diodes (OLEDs) and novel spin-optical properties of molecular quantum materials. In 2021 he was awarded the Dillwyn Medal for STEMM from the Learned Society of Wales. Emrys has been awarded >£2M funding as PI from the Leverhulme Trust, EPSRC and Royal Society.
